BalletBallet Party Ideas!

Throw your little ballerina a birthday party which will surely be on point. Make sure your little girl has a whimsical day by using our beautiful Ballet party theme! Read on for our suggestions on decorations, food and games.

The ballet studio

Have the guest of honor wear her favourite ballerina party dress so she greets her guests in style! For your ballet birthday decorations, be sure to have lots of pink, along with silver, white and purple colours. Greet your guests with a large group of pink and white balloons outside your front door and a cascade of bubbles from a bubble machine. Ask your guests to wear dance leotards. When the girls arrive, give each a tutu and a tiara to wear. This will make them all feel like ballerinas! Decorate with lots of streamers and balloons and place a mirror in your party area so young ballerinas can use it before their performances. Decorate the mirror with glitter and stars.

Prepare jam sandwiches cut with a star cookie cutter. Serve crispy rice cereal treats sprinkled with pink sugar. Pink Lemonade Prepare the homemade lemonade according to directions, and add a few drops of pink food colouring. Serve in pretty punch glasses. Cupcakes will win over the guests and party girl alike - iced with various shades of pink icing and decorated with pink, red and white sweets. Serve ginger ale with a scoop of strawberry ice cream for a cool pink treat.

Tu-Tu Fun!

Ballet Class: Call your local dance studio. Ask if they have a teenage student who you can hire. Ask the student to come to the party dressed in her ballet gear-preferably including a tutu-and dance for the children before teaching them a few basic moves. During the party have her teach a few simple ballet steps at your child's ballerina party. Have ballet music ready, such as Swan Lake or The Nutcracker Suite. Your guests will be enthralled by a real ballerina! To add to the fun get little tutus for each of the party-goers.

Freeze Dance: A few rounds of Freeze Dance will get everyone moving to their favourite songs! To play, have all of the kids start dancing when you turn on some music. After a few moments, turn off the sound and say 'Freeze!" Anyone still moving is out until the next game begins. You'll find that as kids drop out, they like to become sideline judges for the rest of the game! Continue playing until only one dancer remains.

Grand Performance: Put Swan Lake, Nutcracker, or other ballet music in the background. Let the birthday girl to be the leader dancing to the music, while other players copy her moves. Continue with this activity until everyone had a chance of being a leader, or they are too tired to continue.

Pass the Slipper: You can play this ballerina party version of "Hot Potato" game. Girls pass ballet slipper around. A chosen player with her eyes closed randomly says "Angelina Ballerina". Whoever holds the slipper when that happens - is out of the game. The play continues in this manner until there is only player left.
